Lokayan, which translates to ‘dialogue among people’ was registered as a public charitable society in 1996-97 at Bikaner and was consolidated with the energies of several heritage preservers, performing artists, historians and visual artists who were deeply committed to documenting the north-western Rajasthani culture and deemed to preserve the Rajasthani heritage, art & ancestry.
Lokayan has established a strategic vision of creating Rajasthan, a state where its cultural heritage, art and artists are valued and staged. We envision a community that respects creativity and heritage, passing its cultural legacy to future generations.
Lokayan is dedicated to the revival, restoration and renewal of the intangible and tangible cultural heritage of Rajasthan. Our focus is to promote the Rajasthani art, tradition and heritage with great pride and introduce it to the world at large. Rajasthan’s cultural offering to this world is an unmatched asset and it is equally essential that it is protected and celebrated by global participation.
